Who We Are and What We Believe

God’s Work.  Our hands.  As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we strive to live out our faith by being the eyes, ears, hands and feet of Christ in the world.  We live and exist to spread the Good News of Jesus’ love through word and deed.  We believe in a Triune God that created and loves all creation.  As Lutherans, we believe that the Bible is the written Word of God. It creates and nurtures faith through the work of the Holy Spirit and points us to Jesus Christ, the living Word and center of our faith. And in reading the Bible, we are invited into a relationship with God that both challenges us and promises us new life.

God, through Christ, is molding and shaping us to be a vital ministry to show His love to those needing to feel His presence in their lives.  In this community of faith, we are embarking on a time of spiritual renewal. We invite you to join us and walk the journey of faith with us.
The doors of Mount Olive Lutheran Church are open to all God’s people wanting and desiring to hear the good news of the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and His will for our lives.  While our church is located in the heart of inner city South Dallas, we have members who travel from surrounding metropolitan areas to join us in the celebration of God’s mercies appearing new to us each and every day.

The mission of Mount Olive Lutheran Church is to serve as a vehicle through which the gospel is spread.

UNITED IN CHRIST, THIS CONGREGATION IS MADE UP OF PEOPLE OF FAITH AND VISION.

We, as disciples of Jesus Christ and in response to God's love, are committed to the proclamation of the gospel and therefore dedicate ourselves to:

  • Providing opportunities to grow in faith through Word and Sacrament by worshipping together and supporting one another in our calling;

  • Providing Christian education for adults and youth;

  • Mentoring and developing youth;

  • Fostering a spirit of unity and peace in the body of Christ by providing an effective network of communication;

  • Giving of our time, talent and resources for the ministry of Jesus Christ;

  • Encouraging and equipping the congregation for transformation;

  • Providing a welcome place that is inclusive and reaches out to the community that surrounds us as well as people of all races, creed and color.
